Criminal Justice Quote: Congressional Impostor Gets Access to the President

In the midst of several Secret Service scandals, including the ability of an intruder to make it past the front doors of the White House, a new incident has surfaced. A man pretending to be Congressman Donald Payne Jr. (D-NJ) was able to pass through security and mingle with other lawmakers at an event where the president was speaking.

The fake congressman was screened for weapons, but it was a White House aide who recognized the man was an impostor. He was forced to leave the premises. Interestingly, the man wasn't stopped by the Secret Service during his exit for further questioning about the incident…

Following a September 30, 2014 hearing on Capitol Hill, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned. She has been replaced by retired Secret Service agent Joseph Clancy.
